PARNALI DHARIYA, a First Year Junior college student is a chess champion at the age of 15.

Describe your field of excellence

I am a chess champion at the age of 15. I have won a lot of prizes in chess tournaments.

What motivated you to start learning this sport?

I was a very naughty girl and, as a punishment for my mischiefs, I played chess. This was the main stimulus that motivated me to start learning this game.

What are the advantages of playing chess?

Chess helps a person to focus on studies by improving concentration and memory.

When did you start learning chess?

I started learning from the age of nine.

How many hours of practice do you invest everyday?

5 hrs.

How do you juggle your time between chess and studies?

My school(junior college)helped me to strike a balance between both.

What is the most unforgettable moment in your life?

When I was placed fourth in the nationals in the Under15 Sub-junior category.

Who are your pillars of strength?

My parents,teachers and my friends and my coaches Shri Arun Pandit and Shri Sharad Tilak for their encouragement and co-operation.

How do you handle failures?

I just try to improve from my mistakes.

Who is your role model?

MAGNUS CARLSEN – a well-known grandmaster

What are your hobbies?

Listening to music ,Skating and Photography.

What is your ambition in life?

I want to become a grandmaster at the age of 20. I also want to earn a Masters in Business Administration.
