AMAZING CARNATIC PLAYER ON KEYBOARD says……..Practice makes a man perfect………….

She has shared her exciting journey of in the filed of Carnatic Music Player on Key board for all of you @Scooldudes.

Describe your field of excellence

I play carnatic music on keyboard.Carnatic music is all about praising god through RAGA AALAPANA, KALPANSAWARAM, NIRAVAL and the corresponding Song which I sing.

Is there any scope for this in the future?

Many people don’t expect Carnatic music to be played on keyboard as they might have heard only the western kind being played on it.But want to show to them that nothing is insurmountable and want to prove to them that anything is possible.

What motivated you to pursue this? How did you start?

When I was small, I attended a wedding reception and was surprised to see a boy playing on it. Immediately, my father asked me if I wanted to give it a try. I agreed to it and my father arranged for a tutor. And from then on. I developed interest and there was no looking back.

Who was the first to recognize your talent for it?

My mom, dad and my family members. Slowly when I developed interest for it, I started speaking to them about it. Since my dad has a fairly good foundation in music, he used to listen to the pieces I played and at times, used to point out my mistakes and so he was the first person to recognize my talent for it.

At what age did you start learning it?

I started learning it at the age of five from JOHN SIR for one and a half years. Since he knew only till basics, I started learning it from SRI MARTIN SIR who taught me a lot of songs and varnams for three and a half years. Then I learnt from Smt.LAKSHMI ANANTHAKRISHNAN, who taught me how to play Kalpanaswaraa and other ragas’. And now currently I am learning T.G.BADRINARAYANAN SIR, who is so kind and polite teaching me everything in detail right from Ragas and so on. He never gets angry I like his coaching very much.

For how many hours do you practice daily?

I practice for two hours daily. I feel very happy while practicing it .It calms down my mind greatly. It is very enjoyable. But the gamakas or the bending of swarams / notes is very limited.

How do you balance studies and academics?

I study after coming back from school till 6:30pm and from then onwards, I practice music till 8:45pm.Sometimes I practice from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

Who is your source of inspiration?

In the field of music, RANJANI AND GAYATHRI sisters have inspired me. When it comes to value education ,Mahatma Gandhi for his non-violence has inspired me.

Who is your role model?

DR.A.P.J.ABDUL KALAM is my role model because he has contributed so much for us and taught us more about life. He is a great scientist and I want to do something like him.

What is your favorite?

Song: KIRANMAI LAKSHMI Dress: JEANS and TOPS. Person: My FATHER Book: Sherlock Holmes.

What is the secret of your success?

Practice makes your work beautiful and meaningful.

What are the unforgettable moments in your life?

When I performed for 2 and a half hour at the Shanmugha Nanda hall in Mumbai, the hall was fully packed. And so it was exciting. Another memorable moment was when I gave a concert for one and a half hours during the Peria puraanam Dance festival in MALAYSIA. There was a turn out of around 2000 people and it was very great experience.

What is your general advice to the students?

You all should have the determination. Don’t do something for the sake of doing it, be happy that you have at least got an opportunity to expose your talent in it.
